To close out this year’s NYCWFF, Andrew Zimmern from Bizarre Foods hosted “Trucks & Train” at Basketball City on Pier 36. The sold out event featured food tastings from 25 food trucks and wine tastings from Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co.

Over the course of living in New York City for the past 20+ years, I have attended countless food tasting events. But there is no event I look forward to more every year than City Harvest’s Bid Against Hunger. This is the premiere event for the ultimate foodie and it never disappoints.

Every year, I anxiously look forward to the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival (NYCWFF). The NYCWFF takes over New York City and turns it into a food-lover’s paradise. For the fifth year, the NYCWFF offered a myriad of events ranging from wine and food tastings/demos and celebrity chef-hosted parties.

There’s no questioning the importance of Brooklyn in the NYC food community – from its thriving restaurant scene to the ever-growing artisan and specialty food shops. It’s hot and every true NYC foodie knows it!

Whole Foods Market® is bringing sexy back—in the form of the modern-day fishmonger. Fishmongers sell fish and seafood. They source, select and purchase it. They also handle, gut, bone, fillet, display and merchandise these fruits of the sea. Those gorgeous sea bass fillets don’t just swim into the fish case and clean themselves up!

That’s because Summer in the City is thrown by City Harvest’s young professional group, Generation Harvest. This event always has a festive and youthful vibe, along with amazing tastings and cocktails from more than 30 New York City restaurants.

The Appetite For Good team joined 650 guests to celebrate a hot, sultry Summer Solstice evening on Wednesday, June 20th at The Metropolitan Pavilion. The sold-out event raised over $230,000, enough to help City Harvest feed nearly 900,000 hungry New Yorkers.

The sea air around Manhattan is maybe a little less fresh than the traditional breeze coming off the ocean, but it didn’t deter Smorgasboat from serving up a delicious cruise around the island, with great food and views for all. Fans of food boarded an East River Ferry for a night of snacks, drinks, and sights to benefit City Harvest. With multiple stations serving small, yet succulent bites from the middle row, and bars in the back and on the top floor, we sailed down two rivers, saw two national landmarks, and had an excellent time all around.
