THE TASTE’S LABOR DAY CULINARY CELEBRATION

THE TASTE’S G(ASTRONOMICAL) LABOR DAY CULINARY CELEBRATION

Awaiting Angelenos this Labor Day weekend is what promises to be a tremendous four (yes, four!) day citywide culinary event, appropriately titled “THE TASTE.” Presented by the Los Angeles Times and Food&Wine, this food festival promises a whopping 4 days, 3 locations, and 9 events of unlimited tastings from over 200 local eateries as well as from top vintners and mixologists, cooking demonstrations from celebrity top chefs, wine tastings/seminars, panel discussions, and, perhaps, the opportunity to meet some of your favorite stars of the culinary world. Celebrity hosts will include Roy Choi, Duff Goldman, Ray Garcia, Giada De Laurentiis, Scott Conant, Art Smith, Ludo Lefebvre, Michael Voltaggio, Claire Robinson, Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos.

From the kick-off event on Friday evening, “Burgers and Beer,” to the more family-friendly “Picnic in the Hills,” hosted by Giada De Laurentiis on Labor Day, THE TASTE seems to have captured and combined the varied culinary and cultural landscape of Los Angeles. Events are creatively themed — see “Taco Tequila Tryst,” and “Street Eats” taking place in Hollywood; “Fashion Bites Brunch” in Beverly Hills (yes, with “free-flowing Bloody Marys, Bellinis and Mimosas” alongside brunch – to me, the best-meal-ever); “Food Noir” in Downtown (where you can enjoy “noir” inspired dishes paired with screenings of film noir shorts and classic newsreel prints). There’s enough of a variety of events that will cater to all and reward attendees with unique culinary memories before summer’s close.
