Unleash Your Inner Foodie at the Los Angeles Epicurean Festival

Interested in that rare chanterelle mushroom cultivated by wild boars in the Himalayas? Or that golden duck raised on an all-Evian-water-organic-and-local diet? Well the Los Angeles Epicurean Festival held this upcoming Sunday, August 28th, promises to make you the envy (and delight) of all your guests at your next dinner party.

If I’ve embellished the offerings a bit, it’s simply owing to the fact that attendees will be exposed to a very unique culinary experience. Guests will have the opportunity to taste, discover, and take home insider food products normally only offered to chefs. The list of what you’ll find here is really quite impressive: Over 500 boutique wines and spirits, cheeses, spices, coffee & teas, charcuterie, olive oils, mushrooms, organic chocolate, meat, fowl, fish, and produce.

What’s more, the Epicurean Cup will bring a bit of Iron Chef flair to the event, from 2-4 pm. Leading up to the Cup, area culinary students, sous-chefs, sommeliers, pastry chefs, and mixologists were invited to enter the competition. Three individuals from each category will appear on Sunday to compete for the Cup. Three randomly assigned teams, each with a representative from all five categories, will choose their favorite Festival products to create a cold appetizer, dessert, and specialty cocktails. The Epicurean Cup will be judged by a panel prominent food-industry personalities including Josiah Citrin, Chef/Owner of Melisse in Santa Monica, Sophie Gayot of GAYOT.com, and Michel Richard, Chef/Owner of Citronelle and Central in Washington DC.
