Appetite for Good

The American Cancer Society’s Taste of Hope event was overflowing with delicious and beautifully executed sample dishes from over 50 renowned restaurants and eateries. The open and airy event space had plenty of natural light – great for admiring the food and the stylish guests!

Not everyone has that certain quality that makes Topics Coffee founder Jason Rodriguez special. From a very young age he knew he was put on this earth to do something unique that combined his two loves: entrepreneurship and his community.

It’s Real Housewives week here at Appetite for Good and I recently met husband and wife team Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen as they lent their support to a very worthy cause. The famous duo – and Brooklyn-residents – came out for the American Cancer Society event Eat, Drink, and Be Hopeful held at the lovely BellTel Lofts in downtown Brooklyn.

This is the second article in a three-part series on my evening at Eat, Drink, and Be Hopeful fundraiser to benefit cancer research. Held at the luxurious BellTel Lofts, the event attracted an eclectic bunch of Brooklyn restaurants, beverage distributors, dessert-makers and more.

The sights! The sounds! But most important of all – the tastes! The American Cancer Society of Brooklyn put on one heck of an event when it hosted Eat, Drink and Be Hopeful, a food and wine event to raise money to help fight cancer.

The hall of the Metropolitan Pavilion was already buzzing with excitement by the time we arrived early for the Taste of Hope event hosted by the American Cancer Society on April 28th. Early birds looking to avoid the crowds eagerly got first tastes and sips of 50 of New York’s best restaurants.

Meze Grill’s amazing concept started from owner Marwan Salem’s love for Mediterranean food and his desire to spread his love for it. The concept is simple: uniting the commonalities across the eastern Mediterranean region under one roof with the best and freshest ingredients for the best tasting food.

The American Cancer Society’s 5th Annual Taste of Hope event embodies the true essence of what Appetite for Good is all about: people gathering together to enjoy good food and drinks while supporting a good cause. Necessary ingredients to make this happen, you ask?
