Appetite for Good

The Chef’s Tribute to Citymeals-on-Wheels, appropriately titled “A Taste of Home,” did an exceptional job of celebrating family feasts, while also stressing the importance of sharing them with elderly individuals who no longer have the luxury of sharing meals with loved ones.

Last year at this time, I was a tad skeptical of food trucks. Just how good could food be that’s prepared in a tiny space on a moving vehicle? For about a year now, these mini-restaurants on wheels have lined the sidewalks outside most office buildings in LA during lunch and being a curious foodie, I finally decided to get in line.

I rarely think about donating to a charity right before I leave on vacation. I mean, between packing and trying to find my misplaced passport, I’m up all night until the minute before my flight. But for New York’s 21 Club restaurant and Executive Chef John Greeley, vacation means being generous.

If you had no idea about the Silver Spoons event, you might have mistaken Rockefeller Center for some sort of celebrity chef convention. With all this talent concentrated in one area, I thought I died and gone to heaven! This was a fantastic event and probably one of the best events Appetite for Good has had the opportunity to participate in.

25 years of star chefs gathered at the beautiful Rockefeller Center Plaza on June 14th to celebrate James Beard and Citymeals-on-Wheels, including Wolfgang Puck, Daniel Boulud, Jacques Torres, and Larry Forgione.
