Appetite for Good

We live in a city of affluence but every year, over 1 million New Yorkers go hungry. One-third of that million are children! Tomorrow, May 12th, you can skip lunch to help fight hunger in our lovely city. The price of an average NY lunch – $10 – can help feed 15 hungry children and their families.

The hall of the Metropolitan Pavilion was already buzzing with excitement by the time we arrived early for the Taste of Hope event hosted by the American Cancer Society on April 28th. Early birds looking to avoid the crowds eagerly got first tastes and sips of 50 of New York’s best restaurants.

Generally speaking, when you think of The Box, understated is not a word that comes to mind. Understated was exactly the case during their hosting of the Somaly Mam Foundation’s Voices of Change launch party celebrating the foundations launch of scarves and pendants all with a philanthropic bent.

The American Cancer Society’s 5th Annual Taste of Hope event embodies the true essence of what Appetite for Good is all about: people gathering together to enjoy good food and drinks while supporting a good cause. Necessary ingredients to make this happen, you ask?

The American India Foundation’s third annual benefit “Let’s Make a Change Together” was an evening dedicated to fostering opportunity. The sold-out event raised funds and awareness for SAATH, a Gujarat NGO. The event featured a rigorous itinerary and a delicious menu catered by top New York restaurant Mint.

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is dedicated helping educate children and their families. On Tuesday, April 20th, the museum will host a gala at the elegant Metropolitan Pavilion to honor Executive Director Andrew Ackerman and celebrate his influential career.

Looking for a great way to spend Saturday evening on this gorgeous weekend? The American India Foundation‘s Third Annual Benefit will fill your tummy with yummy food catered by Mint and fill your soul with warmth from doing a good deed. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards SAATH, a NGO in Gujarat, India.
