How Not to Train for a Marathon – The Finale

How Not to Train for a Marathon – The Finale

Sorry for the delay! I’ve started this immediately after the marathon but never had a chance to finish it. Here is the long overdue recap (4 months overdue!) A special thanks to Matsuri and Marwan from Meze Grill for each donating $200 respectively to my marathon cause; I could not have done it without the support from these highly delicious establishments!

Post #101! S&S Sweets and Stress Fractures

The news that no runner wants to hear while they are training for the marathon: a stress fracture in their foot. It’s pretty crazy that up until now in my training, I’ve put my body through crazy stuff like never icing after long runs, drinking water during runs, etc. But all my good fortune has come to an end: I developed a stress fracture of the sesamoid bones in my right foot. How did this happen?

For a few weeks leading up to the September 12th Race for the Cure, I stalked the Midtown NYSC. I slowly ramped up to 3 miles on the treadmill, and even added some hills for a more realistic simulation of Central Park on race day. But what the actual 5K was nothing I like expected!

How Not to Train for a Marathon, T-12 Weeks

After my long run on Saturday (8/21/2010) with my super cool new phone app, I really wish I could run outside everyday and track it accurately. This is week 2 of my recap! Aren’t y’all excited? What ridiculous things will Patrick eat next?

How Not to Train for a Marathon, T-13 Weeks

Megan from Runner’s Kitchen really inspired me to recap my marathon training experience, except she’s good at staying healthy while training. I’m quite the opposite. I like to live vicariously through her and pretend I had a healthy week and trained hard when in reality I’m just pigging out. Kids, please do not try this at home. This is how one should NOT train for a marathon.
